Operating your own Private Cloud in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Limited Capacity seats available

Corporate IT is going through a transformation. On one hand, there is pressure to reduce cost, adopt a subscription cost model and become cloud-native, on the other hand, they still need to stay relevant to their own business in spite of all the vendor-provided automation. There might be a way to do both. The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides a model where an IT department can reserve a slice of dedicated hardware and provide that as a service to their own business. They not only get all the agility and provisioning automation that comes in a cloud but they also keep control of it.

This session will help you understand how to build your own private, autonomous cloud in the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Building scalable and failsafe networking solutions using Solaris
Limited Capacity seats available

This talk will dive into some ideas on how to build scalable and failsafe networking solutions using key virtualization and networking stack features on Solaris OS leveraging the unique design parameters thus providing the highest performance on the industry-leading high-speed network adapters.

The talk is self-contained and will start with a brief overview of the key networking features that will be discussed at length in demonstrating some real-life solutions currently deployed at some of our key customers

Feature overview
We provide a high-level overview of Solaris virtualization infrastructure viz. LDOMs, zones and kernel zones, as applicable to networking followed by an overview of Virtual NICs, Paravirtualization and hardware virtualization (SR-IOV).

The topmost focus will be on building and deploying High Availability solutions for enterprises. HA forms the basis for Oracle HA Cluster products and several other key enterprises. The use case will show how scalability and failover are achieved on Solaris based HA clusters.

We will dive into how HA features like Datalink multipathing (DLMP), Trunking and IP multipathing (IPMP) demonstrating several deployment scenarios where some have none or limited dependencies on the datacenter.

Flows is a unique Solaris networking feature, and we provide an overview, followed by a use case.

1. How to build an HA solution.
A 2 level solution using both Link aggregation and IPMP to get the benefits of both is a popular HA solution.

2. Flow use cases.
Flows provide the ability to rate-limit the bandwidth, or to set the processing priority of various classes of network traffic. We provide some examples of how to use hardware flows if NIC support is available.

3. PTP use case.
The Precision time protocol (PTP) an IEEE standard, provides a way for time synchronization across systems. We discuss Solaris support and a typical use case.
